During a test standard cleaning procedures produced 10 bags of LLW materials, PPE, SIZAL in addition to the cleaning materials used.
The decontamination using RADWIPES v Decon 90 took considerably less time as there was less liquid to be dealt with as the RADWIPES were used straight from the packet and disposed of without having the additional task of soaking up the Decon agent.
This reduced the amount of exposure time to the operator and therefore reduced dose uptake. The test of the RADWIPES demonstrated that RADWIPES were a better product and stood up to the rigors of the swabbing better as the wipes had more chemical content which helped absorb the contamination quicker.
